Our Natural Cheese vs. Processed Cheese

If you have tasted Conebella Farm Cheese, you know that there is a difference between our natural cheeses and processed cheeses you can pick up at any grocery store. However, when it comes to the difference between the two, many people aren’t aware of the vast nutritional differences between products.

When you have our cheese, you can be sure that it is made from all-natural ingredients with the milk from our own cows, which is both antibiotic-free and rBST free. When you check the ingredient label on processed cheese you might find an antibiotic called Natamycin which the company will describe as a natural mold inhibitor; however, it was formerly used as an antibiotic prescribed for eye infirmities!

Our cows are not treated with the artificial growth hormone rBST, so in turn our milk and milk products are free of artificial growth hormones. The FDA claims that no significant difference has been found between milk from cows that are treated with rBST, but we believe that staying away from artificial food is always a good idea for your health.

The processed cheeses found in the grocery store also contain additives like artificial colors, flavors, sodium and trans fat. In the end, the cheese produced is only comprised of 60% real cheese. Natural cheese is 100% real cheese that you can eat with no worries of what else might be included!

It’s always a good idea to do the “spoil test.” If it spoils in a reasonable amount of time then you know it’s good to eat. If not, then you know it’s pumped full of preservatives and other unhealthy ingredients. Our aged cheeses have a bit of a longer shelf life due to the nature of aged cheeses, but our milk lasts about one week after it’s been opened and cheese spreads have a shelf life of three weeks.
